Another “Patriot” Falls – Amal Silva Busted in SUV Scam

Another so-called patriot is now under the spotlight. Amal Silva, SLPP member of the Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia Municipal Council and former Western Provincial Councillor, has been arrested by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force.

Three luxury SUVs worth more than Rs. 60 million were seized — including Land Rover and Mitsubishi models. Police say the vehicles were smuggled in, illegally imported, and registered under forged documents.

Investigators found that condemned, state-owned vehicle numbers had been “borrowed” to prepare fake papers at the Department of Motor Traffic. In plain words — ghost cars turned into luxury rides.

Silva, once paraded as a “patriot,” will be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (29) as the probe continues.
