Opposition MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake Arrested

 

Opposition Member of Parliament Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, has been taken into custody by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). Reports indicate that he was arrested in connection with three corruption-related charges.

It has also been reported that moments before his arrest, he was being questioned by the CIABOC regarding these allegations.

According to available information, MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake is expected to be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

While specific details of the charges against him have not yet been disclosed, sources confirm that he was arrested based on three allegations of corruption. The CIABOC has reportedly been conducting investigations into this matter for an extended period.
