Sri Lankan Man Arrested in Italy for Child Abuse Charges

 

Italian media reports that a 50-year-old Sri Lankan man, who fled to Italy after being accused of sexually abusing a minor, was arrested in the Napoly ..

Authorities had issued an international red notice for his capture. However, Italian media have not disclosed his identity.

According to reports, the suspect was previously arrested in Sri Lanka for abusing a 15-year-old girl. He was remanded and later released on bail. After evading court proceedings, he was tried in absentia and sentenced to imprisonment.

At the time of his sentencing, he had secretly fled to Italy. Notably, he had obtained legal residency documents and was employed while residing in Naples.

Italian police arrested him at his residence, and he is currently being held in an Italian prison. Reports indicate that he is expected to be deported to Sri Lanka soon.
