Minuwangoda Magistrate T. Thenabadu ordered the police yesterday (02) to immediately arrest and present to court the owner of a beauty salon in Minuwangoda town and her two assistant employees, in connection with an incident where a woman suddenly fell ill and lost her hair due to hair treatments applied during styling.
Additionally, the Consumer Authority was ordered to examine the types of treatments used in the salon and submit a report to the court. The incident occurred on the 30th when a 35-year-old woman from the Boragodawatta area in Minuwangoda went to a beauty salon in a shopping complex in Minuwangoda town to style her hair for a party. After applying treatments to her head, her hair fell out.
Sub-Inspector K.A. Vajira Shamali, the officer-in-charge of the Children and Women's Bureau of the Minuwangoda Police, reported the facts to the Minuwangoda Magistrate's Court yesterday (02), after which the magistrate issued this order.
The police informed the court that after this incident, the female owner of the salon and her two assistant employees had closed the salon and fled. When their homes were checked, they were not found there either. The woman who suddenly fell ill and lost her hair was admitted to Gampaha Hospital that day.
