List of 73 people who were in Parliament last year and are now at home

Last term, 73 members of parliament lost their preferential votes in the general election held on the 5th August. These people have contested not from the parties that some of them demanded last time but from other parties this time after the political upheaval.

46 members of the United National Front were defeated this time.
Sixteen members representing the United People's Freedom Alliance and three members representing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna have been defeated this time.

Six members of the Tamil National Alliance, one member of the Ilangai Tamil Arasu Kachchi and the only member of the Muslim Congress in the last parliament, have not been elected to parliament this time.
