Katunayaka Airport locked up for 2 weeks

Commencing from today (17) steps would be taken to close down Katunayaka Bandaranaika International Airport for a fortnight, president Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said. The president said this at a media briefing held today at presidential secretariat. 

All flights scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka from today (17) to 31st for two weeks has been
suspended. In the meantime, it has been reported that there are 891 persons gone on pilgrimage to Dambadiva and bringing them down would be carried out in the next few days. The president said that two special aircrafts that could accommodate the maximum of passengers would be utilised in this connection at the earliest possible. 

During the past few days a large number of people had come to this country from overseas and as a consequence the government was involved in a big struggle as such to locate these people for quarantine purposes, the president said. In the process messages were conveyed to airlines of corona spreading around during the last few weeks to ban passengers of those countries arriving in Sri Lanka .. from last night. The list of those countries are as follows. However as a result, people preparing to come to Sri Lanka would thus not be subjected to too much of an inconvenience because of this lock up.
