Mother and daughter robs clothes from Boralesgomuwa textile shop and assaults owner!

A mother and daughter who robbed a stock of garments from a textile outlet situated at Boralesgomuwa junction had even gone to the extent of assaulting owner of the shop with a club and caused injury, after which they had tried to flee from there and were taken into custody on

the 10th, Boralesgomuwa police say. The victim of the textile shop who faced the assault was admitted to Kalubowila teaching hospital and one of her feet was damaged, police say. The duo taken into custody is a 35 year old woman and her 15 year old daughter.

The said woman and the daughter have come to this clothing outlet day before yesterday (10) afternoon from a motor cycle and pretending to buy clothing had moved around for a short time and had swiftly tried to make a getaway, police say. Somehow a saleswoman has given chase behind them and having brought the woman and the daughter inside the shop had proceeded to check their handbags when she was able to find a stock of robbed clothing, it is understood. The suspect woman had gone into an argument with the owner over this matter and had tried to flee and when a struggle ensued in the process, this assault was launched from a wooden club inside the shop, police say. 

On that occasion the suspect woman who went into a rage had gone to the extent of attacking several glass racks ... even damaging a stock of cosmetic items, it is learned. Subsequently the police was informed about this and after police officers visited the scene concerned has taken both the lady and her daughter into custody, it is said. Police also say that a statement was secured from the suspect woman while the 15 year old daughter of the suspect woman was set free, plice say.  It is understood that the outlet concerned has sustained a loss of about Rs. one lakh. 

The suspect woman was expected to be produced before Nugegoda court. Officer in charge of crime investigation division, sub inspector Gamlath and police constable Wanasingha are conducting inquiries under instructions of Boralesgomuwa police officer in charge, inspector of police, Mr. Samanthakan Weerasingha.
