Gota and Sajith asks to meet cardinal -- turns down request
His eminence Malcom Ranjith Cardinal has turned down the request of presidential candidates to meet him and have a discussion with him. Saying that a formal inquiry is not being conducted with regard to April 21st attack the cardinal mentioned that he is not prepared to meet the presidential candidates.
The cardinal has declined requests made by Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna presidential candidate
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and United National Party presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa and other presidential candidates. This was confirmed on an inquiry made from media co-ordinator of the Sri Lanka Catholic diocese, Rev. Jude Krishantha. In the meantime the Cardinal has made a request from the president to ensure total security at all places of religious worship during the period of the elections. As such, the president has informed inspector general of police to take necessary steps according to the request of the cardinal.
