Ranil's heartbreaking comments hint Ranil coming into the fray of Presidential candidacy
Premier Ranil Wickremasingha has yesterday (12) announced that he would be coming forward if possible to contest the forthcoming Presidential election as a leader who protected the party on every difficult situation and if he is not able to do so he would quit. This was announced at a function held yesterday at Temple Trees after inviting a crowd of the earliest members of the United National Party. What political analysts have said was that what is portrayed by this speech was that Ranil Wickremasingha has given a clue that this would

It was informed that he had held several positions in the Sri Lankan political field till he reached the age of 70 years and that it will not be a difficult task for him to retire from politics and that he welcomed party leadership at periods when leaders of the party were dropping dead one after the other which marked the most arduous periods. Media report that when it was brought to the memory of older members of United National Party, tears were seen welling in the eyes of some of those members.
The prime minister further mentioned that as the party leader and bringing victory to the alliance established under leadership of the party is his duty and that in case if he fails to carry out this responsibility he would have no problem in quitting.
What political news sources report is that when taking relevant matters into consideration, it now becomes clear that after Sajith or Karu are brought forward as Presidential candidates, in spite of the ambiguous situation of failing to achieve a position in the political future of Ranil's politics he himself has considered this as his final opportunity to appear for the Presidential campaign.
