New Zealand wants Thilan who was disregarded by Sri Lanka

Steps have been taken to appoint former batting coach of Sri Lanka Thilan Samaraweera as batting coach of New Zealand team for the forthcoming Sri Lanka - New Zealand cricket tournament to commence on August 14th. As such, the New Zealand Test team who joins on a tour after a lapse of about 7 years and having played 15 Test matches in Sri Lanka has faced 6 defeats. That announcement says that it would prove more useful for the New Zealand team if the former batting
coach of the Sri Lankan team on this tour.

The announcement further says that since members of the team other than Kayne Williamson and Ross Taylor have no sufficient knowledge about the condition of pitches of Sri Lanka, this was thought to be one of the main reasons for the appointment.

In the meantime what foreign media reports is that Garry Stead is the chief coach of New Zealand ... and goes on to say: "The heap of knowledge that former Sri Lankan batting coach and top-class Test batsman Thilan Samaraweera who possesses tons of knowledge about Sri Lankan pitches coming into our team in the Test tournament would be useful to us. We also have great faith that Peter Fullton, our batting coach  who took over duties recently would have great support from Thilan Samaraweera and we got the benefit of having an additional coach in the world cup tournament, we have taken steps to follow the same procedure in this Test tournament to be played with Sri Lanka".
