'Amritha incense sticks' which is a local product with a large market of sales in Sri Lanka was a product which was subjected to competition and opposition during the past. 

Sanjeewa Gunawardena was born in Galle and had his studies at at Richmond College after which he followed his advanced studies at the university of Colombo and on a concept which struck him he
commenced this small industry which later on transformed into a large-scale industry. He is by now the pioneer of Amritha incense factory and is also  a member of Darley Butler company which produces that item.
