Wilpattu houses given to those who had houses --
Revelation by Wimal after tour
Wilpattu houses given to those who had houses --
Leader of jathika nidahas peramuna, Wimal Weeravansha has made a revelation that government patronage is being offered for construction of 'fake housing hmlets' in Wilpattu attendant forests. He pointed it out after conducting a survey om the housing scheme which is being erected at Kallaru reserve in Wilpattu national park yesterday (15). It is of special interest to note that artistes Iraj Weeraratna and Gayan Wickramatilleka joined on this tour.
Weeravansha who expressed his ideas on that occasion, "Though the President said in the first half of
2015 that housing projects carried out after clearing forests in north and east or any other such activities were prohibited, it is the housing scheme that is being now carried out which has now come under our survey. It is the housing development authority which grants full patronage and sponsorship to this housing scheme being erected in Kallaru reserve which belongs to Wilpattu attendant forest. In the same way, it has come to be known that former minister Rishad Bathiudeen who has offered Rs. 50,000 each for the people to whom lands were given for temporary constructions from this housing scheme.

These ostensible housing hamlets are being constructed for people who live satisfactorily with houses in Puttalam and could be identified as 'false hamlets'. What happens in this instance is not providing houses for those who are without houses. That is why I identify those as 'false hamlets'. On one hand what is done here is also a process of colonisation of an extremist manner. On the other hand a destruction of Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslims in this country by using political powers.
If there is an environmental authority in this country, we urge him to stop this annihilation of forests and appeal to former minister, Rishad Bathiudeen, national housing development authority as well as provincial secretaries.
We will be bringing this out in parliament; we will focus attention of the public on this
matter. We cannot keep silent about a common property which incidentally is a most valuable property belonging to masses of this country. Then we can't be 'humans'. The president should come and observe this. The issue is not in the carpentry-shed, timber-shed or the coffin-shop. It is because attendant forests of large forests are being destroyed in this manner that forests in this country are depleting. In this respect, while state patronage is given for 'false housing hamlets', putting a ban on carpentry-sheds is like 'wearing a loin cloth for diarrhea'.
Media spokesman of jathika nidahas peramuna, Mohommed Muzamill, administrative secretary, Samansiri Herath, a group of representatives of jathika nidahas peramuna, and several artistes including popular performer, Gayan Wickrematilleka and singer Iraj Weeraratna and a special media team joined in on this survey tour.
