Villagers hand over to police, those who come equipped with 'gok kola and other things' to shoot commercial 

On a tip off received by police that a group of people who came to shoot a commercial had come to find treasure of a vihara finally ended up with police taking them into custody day before yesterday (16) as reported by Galkiriyagama Police.

An unidentified group of people had come in two vehicles armed with 'pol mal, gok kola' and remained in a vihara in Kalugala area in the police division of Galkiriyagama day before yesterday
(16) and on information received by villagers to that effect they had surrounded this temple premises and had proceeded to notify Galkiriyagama Police about this.

Officer in charge of Galkiriyagama Police who promptly went into action and when checking about this the information received by the villagers was that a group of people are trying to engage in a treasure hunt. Police then employed a special team of officers and had raided the vihara in midnight with the assistance of villagers and taken the group into police custody. Later, eight persons who were there together with all luggage they had brought with them were taken into police custody by Galkiriyagama Police and was brought to the police station, police say.

Subsequently, when interrogating them, what was revealed was that this group of people were employees of a commercial advertisement promotion firm and that they had come with the motive of shooting some pictures of Kalugala region. They had even shown police some scenes they had shot in Jaffna the previous day. What Galkiriyagama Police said was that when coming during night hours for shooting scenes like this they should have made villagers and police in which instance this group would not have to face inconveniences.
