Prohibition for Mahinda to practise as Prime Minister and for cabinet to function ... extended till 18th January, 2019
The quo warranto petition filed inferring that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and cabinet deprived of rights to function in that capacity was taken in for hearing today (12) at Appeal Court and Appeal Court Chairman, Judge Preethi Padman Surasena and Arjun Obeysekera decided that this suspension will be extended till January 18th, 2019.
Appeal Court went ahead by fixing January 16th, 17th and 18th for considering the petition and
deliver the judgement on the 18th. Apart from this, the appeal forwarded by Mahinda against the petition has been accepted by Supreme Court today. The said petition had been filed by 122 members of parliament of the opposition. In this manner Sri Lanka continues to remain further as an unstable country ... devoid of members of parliament and a Prime Minister.
