A certain announcer of an electronic media channel had been having a connection with an attractive lady working as an accountant in Canada and has been taking a sum of over 18 lakhs from her, time and again. However after the affair broke off one day he has refused to return that sum of money which finally resulted in the person being taken into custody yesterday (27), Ingiriya police say.

Police also say that the said accountant has stated in her complaint that she was threatened saying that

her photographs would be superimposed with nude photos and released to the internet. She has further mentioned that when she demanded the money he would threaten her in that manner and evade her by not returning the money.

An affair had developed between the accountant and the announcer about 4 years before this and it was by coming to know each other across the facebook, police say. the thirty seven year old accountant has been divorced from her first marriage and is a mother of one child while the announcer too is a married person aged thirty five years, police say.

The accountant is from an elite family in Kottawa and after the home-people were informed about the connection between the two, they had inquired about the announcer concerned, a police officer said. Her parents and brothers and sisters have disliked the connection with the announcer and subsequently the accountant has informed the announcer about it.

After this she had asked for the sum of Rs. eighteen lakhs which she has been remitting to him for a period of four years in which instance he had refused paying it back and had responded saying that he would superimpose nude photos with her photos and release it to the internet as stated in the complaint lodged by the accountant to the police.

The accountant who had returned to this country last 16th has made the said complaint to Ingiriya police and the suspect announcer was summoned twice to appear for an inquiry in this respect by Ingiriya police. However he has been absconding. As a result a posse of policemen had taken the announcer into custody in his house yesterday (27). The suspect was expected to be produced before Horana Court yesterday (27).
