Second no faith motion against Mahinda  today --
appears to be dragged on for some days

The political tug-o-war which took place during the past few weeks became a headache to not only politicians but to the public who actually had no connection with it. Even both the judiciary as well as the executive  was shaken up because of the 'unmoving' decision of a ruler.

Whatever it is, President Maithripala Sirisena brought up on the eve of yesterday the 15th is a solution which afforded some form of 'loosening' to United National Front and party leaders who brought up the no faith motion; in which instance he said that the no faith motion be changed and to
be presented in a formal manner. What political information sources report is that this too is a plan that has been used as a strategy. On that occasion if the no faith motion is introduced even in a new format today the 16th, it would not be something that wold be over today itself, reports have been published. It is also said that it would be taken up in parliament for a number of days.

It is also reported that the Mahinda faction has suggested that the issue of a vote is to be taken after debating the no faith motion for a suitable number of days in parliament by fixing date on the parliamentary agenda. They have decided to present this idea at the party leaders' meeting to be held today.

Before the no faith motion is to be presented in a formal procedure, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa who has been appointed by the President on October 26th has to be accepted as the Prime Minister by the Speaker. (The Speaker in a statement made on 15th, he had said that he has accepted so). After consenting to do so, the United People's Freedom Alliance too has to be accepted as the incumbent regime, while such positions as a Leader of the House, a Leader of the Opposition, a chief organiser of the  Opposition being appointed would necessarily take place, it is reported. Subsequent to that, according to standing orders a no faith motion can be forwarded to the Opposition and it can be included in the parliamentary agenda at the time it is prepared.

A decision should be taken at the party leaders' meeting to function in relation to the no faith motion and the vote could be taken after allowing a suitable number of days to debate on a date fixed in the parliamentary agenda. President has announced that the vote concerned should be carried out y recording names of the MPs. It is that system which President has asked for saying that it is the accepted methodology in parliament. Through this process the government would be able to remain under the government under Mahinda Rajapaksa for some more time. Whatever it is, this system proposed by the Mahinda faction will be subjected at parliament party leader's meeting for discussion once again and changes also may take place.
