Addressing the "Jana mahima" public rally today President Maithripala Sirisena criticised former Prime Minister by attacking his personal life. "I am happy that Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa and I were able to come to the same stage together. The month of November is a strange month. I resigned from Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa's cabinet in the month of November, 2018. Both of us came to the same platform in the month of November, 2018. Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa who ousted Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha from his Premiership and assumed that

position and what he expected was ... it was not two bodies that changed the seat. This was not an exchange of two human beings. What changed in this instance is a philosophy which was unfriendly ... not in agreement with our mentality that we removed from the seat. It was Mr. Rajapaksa who suited our country ... suited our nation and rejected foreign political theory that we called to this seat. After the local government elections ... the no-confidence motion I told Speaker Mr. Karu Jayasuriya to take over the Prime Minister's seat. It was only hat I didn't worship him. He came with Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha and said "I cannot go against this Prime Minister. Karu Jayasuriya put me into an embarrassing situation like that on that day. I invited Deputy Leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa home and told him, "I cannot work with your leader". I asked Sajith to to take over six months ago. He was backward. I told Sajith "Let's remove Ranil ... you take over the Premiership".

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed last week. Not clash with Ranil ... but I appointed a leader who can even roll over Ranil. We cannot work according to foreign agenda. Ranil Wickremasingha's economic policies put the innocent public into difficulties. Ranil Wickremasingha entered a butterfly life. Decisions of the government was taken by Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha and the clique of butterflies. Did Ranil Wickremasingha go to visit Maha Nayaka Theros ... Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi ... Archbishop Cardinal? Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha was bending down on his knees in front of embassies.

I have not taken decisions all by myself. Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed as Prime Minister in a lawful manner. Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha was made to resign ... the cabinet was dismissed. New ministers were appointed. If there is a legal issue ... anybody can go to Supreme Court. We will strengthen the parliament. Don not suspect 113. The 113 has already been made. Whatever powers, antagonism comes my way ... the foot that I placed forward ... the decision I took will go forward ... not back".
