"Namal Kumara is one of my men ...
a man who betrays with a telephone call -- Mahason Amith reveals

Amith Weerasingha, leader of Mahason Balakaya who was set free day before yesterday reveals that Namal Kumara who exposed the President - Gota assassination conspiracy which was one of the reasons for the government to topple had been attached to Mahason Balakaya together.

Though 11 persons in his house were expected to be taken into custody, only 10 were arrested while the 11th was Namal Kumara, he says. Amith reveals that it was former deputy inspector general of police, Nalaka Silva who rescued him at that time and the reason for his rescue were some telephone dialogues provided to Nalaka Silva by Namal Kumara, Amith confessed. Namal Kumara whom he
says is equipped with a high potential of capturing telephone discussions on tape has subsequently betrayed Nalaka Silva too in the same fashion, he says.

Amith Weerasingha and his colleagues of Mahason Balakaya were taken into custody last March 8th on suspicion in relation to the commotion that took place in Kandy. Amith Weerasingha together with five of his accomplices were released on bail and on that occasion he exposed this to the media with his group.

This is what he said about the pedigree of Namal Kumara who had developed an organisation by the name of "Dooshana Virodi Balakaya". "When these people were hoping to get over the no-confidence motion brought against Ranil Wickremasingha of United Opposition and were searching for a new device, it was at that time this incident in Teldeniya, Kandy dawned on them like winning a sweep. It was able to make the Muslim Congress who incidentally was on the fence be attracted to their side and raise their hands in favour of them in parliament. DIG Nalaka Silva who is a comrade of former Prime Minister arrested this young man in vain ... and not only that; it was published in newspapers that on the night of March 8th that 10 persons were arrested. No, eleven persons were taken into custody. This 11th person was Namal Kumara.

I was sleeping in my room ... on a sofa. As far as I remember he was sleeping after having a dinner of 'pittu'. He was the 11th who was so arrested and having gone a short distance in the jeep, DIG Nalaka Silva released handcuffs of Namal Kumara and sent him away in another vehicle.

In the end Mr. Pujith Jayasundera is supposed to have agreed to pay a sum of 5 lakhs to Namal Kumara if I was to be taken into custody. It was DIG Nalaka Silva who has taken the 5 lakhs that Pujith Jayasundera has given and they had been struggling even to share that money like an underground gang fights to share the money after having looted a bank. Finally, it came to a point where this assassination attempt which plan was launched by them ended up with the finger being pointed at as, "there ... that's the only man who was involved in this".
