An official announcement released by the government media division on 27th, this evening says that activities of cabinet ministers in operation till 26th yesterday would be dissolved henceforth. This announcement has been released as the first announcement of Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa, additional secretary to the President and acting director-general in charge of government information. Under these circumstances a new
cabinet is expected to swear in this evening the 27th or tomorrow or 28th, political sources inform.

Reports were published that 25 or 30 will be included in the new cabinet and that 15 seniors of the United would also be included as well. Whatever it is, as Mahinda wants to stabilize his powers in parliament next 16th, he has strong hopes of offering special portfolios to MPs breaking away from the UNP and therefore a cabinet based on political targets would be selected on a temporary basis, it was reported. As such, all portfolios of the government and affiliated institutions is supposed to undergo a change in time to come.
