Maithri blocks quick gathering in parliament -- to meet on 16th!

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasingha too voiced his opinion that Mahinda Rajapaksa taking his oaths yesterday was not the right thing to do and further said that parliament should meet soon so that he would be able to show his powers. As such, Ranil instructed the Speaker to see that they gather in parliament. 

On this occasion President Maithripala Sirisena who has taken strategical action had gone to the extent of closing parliament sessions in order to build up  the majority in parliament in the face of
influence thrown against him to conduct the change in government according to the constitution. Even the relevant gazette notification to postpone parliamentary proceedings until the 16th. the President has taken this move in the backdrop of the budget speech affecting the country and which is scheduled to commence  next 5th. 

United Opposition sources say that Basil and company has launched operations to gather the majority due to Mahinda during the 3 weeks or so. As such, Mahinda would be making efforts to take over the position of Prime Minister in accordance with the constitution at the next parliamentary session. Whatever it is, the country would face a politically unstable situation during this transit period and thus activities of ministries would not function as they normally should.
