About 20 are expected to take their oaths today (29) under Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in the presence of President Maithripala Sirisena. Member of parliament of United People's Freedom Alliance, S.B. Dissanaika has mentioned that on the above occasion 20 cabinet ministers would be taking their oaths and as the number of cabinet of ministers are limited to thirty according to the 19th amendment of the constitution, rest of the ministers would be sworn in at a later date.

Prior to this, though there was an opportunity to appoint more than 30 ministers under the UNP -
UPFA, political authorities in the legal field have pointed out that since it is a government of the UPFA that will be established under Mahinda, he should stick to this framework. As such, the umber of deputy and state ministers too are limited to 40 according to the constitution.

Other than that, some clues about new ministers are to be seen. It was reported that portfolios of Law and Order to President Maithri and Finance and Economic Affairs was to be handed over under the prevailing situation. In the meantime, Keheliya Rambukwella was aspiring to become minister of Mass Communication while Wimal Weeravansha was dreaming about becoming minister of Housing, it is reported. Another unconfirmed piece of news says that 10 persons from the UNP had received invitations today to join the cabinet.
