It was supporters of Indika, Sanath, Prasanna who created pandemonium -- what actually happened at National Rupavahini last night?

When former President Mahinda Rajapaksa took his oaths last evening at Presidential Secretariat, simultaneously a tensed environment flared up at National Rupavahini Corporation premises. As a result of this commotion, transmission of rupavahini too came to a standstill by 10.30 last night.

It is understood that when Mahinda Rajapaksa got his appointment as prime minister, Mangala Samaraweera, Rajitha Senaratna, Ranjith Madduma Bandara with another group had arrived at National Rupavahini premises and remained there. A large number of STF members had been present
there to afford protection to the visitors.

In the meantime, a crowd of people inclusive of MPs such as Indika Anuruddha, Sanath Nishantha had come to Rupavahini premises when their supporters had indicated that the power is now in their hands. So saying they had threatened the others implying that they should be chased away ... reprimanding UNP MPs and ministers shouting utter obscene remarks. On this occasion a person who stepped out of his vehicle was MP Chathura Senaratna. At that moment supporters of Indika Anuruddha, Sanath Nishantha and Prasanna Ranaweera has cast lewd remarks at him too and taken steps to chase him away. Thus, at that moment hooting and obscene remarks mixed with aggression roared around Rupavahini establishment.

Whatever it is, without indulging in any tit-for-tat moves, the UNP crowd peacefully left Rupavahini Corporation premises. Once they had left, a crowd of United Peoples party entered Rupavahini Corporation building and had resorted to removing the picture of prime minister Ranil fixed at the access gate, it was reported.

Under circumstances of this tumultuous and confused environment, employees engaged on night duty at the establishment were ordered to quickly end transmission activities. No sooner Mahinda's swearing-in became news, the National Rupavahini and Independent Rupavahini had engaged in launching programmes of praising  Mahinda ... collecting old visuals of Mahinda.

In the meantime, a crowd that came to the information section of Independent Rupavahine last night had reprimanded UNP supporters and had even chased them away, it was reported. On the occasion when Mahinda took his oaths, a lawyer was brought down to Independent Rupavahini studio where a conversation was broadcast over air revealing that Maithri had taken a very accurate decision and thus Ranil had to go. Shown below is how United People's party had chased Chathura Senaratna who came to rupavahini ... uttering obscene words.
