"I am still the Prime Minister" -- Ranil's speech
Ranil Wickremasingha who gathered at Temple Trees around 10.30 in the night today conducted a media discussion with a crowd of MPs supporting him.
What Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha mentioned on that occasion was that according to the constitution there is no provision set out where another Prime Minister could be installed. He further mentioned
that he would continue to act as the Prime Minister of this country, that no other person could be nominated for that purpose, that he cannot change parliamentary tradition and that he he has state powers with a majority in the parliament on his side. He also said that if it is necessary to oust him ... then the relevant legal methodology has to be adopted. he finally added that when the no-confidence motion was brought against him, he proved that it is on him that the parliament could rely on.
