Maharagama mayor 'Come on sir' who gets the devil into him ... beats employees!
Maharagama chairman of urban council Tiraraj Lakruwan alias 'Sir' is back among dialogues because of an incident where he had assaulted workers of the electric division who were on their way back home after finishing their duties and had been having drinks at a restaurant, after which he had made them kneel down, it is reported.
As a result of the fate that befell the four labourers of the electric unit, workers of the electric division have decided to keep away from their duties today while everybody at the urban council have stopped
work and launched a protest. Whatever it is, what Tiraj Lakruwan says is that he was not involved in such an assault case but that he advised the labourers who were engaged in duties while drunk. However, they had in turn questioned how it could be a problem to the chairman when drunk outside the duty period.
An uproar took place in the media sometime back for having pasted a letter at the urban council, prepared in his computer demanding that he be addressed as "Sir". to which allegation too he responded saying that he did not do so.
After this early incident of making him be addressed as "Sir" was circulated Tiraj had been walking hither and thither at urban council premises and though he did not see but in hearing distance, the workers have shouted "Come on sir". "I am sir" and "Hi sir", in a high tone, the mayor had been in a rage, it was reported. A suspicion has emerged whether the aforementioned assault has taken place because of such a reason.
