"I am hoping to come as Presidential candidate; Namal is underage -- if not ... brother"
'The Hindu' newspaper conducted a special interview with former president Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on a tour in India these days and it has been published today, the 12th and when being questioned about Presidential candidacy, Mahinda has responded in this manner:
* You have finished contesting as a Presidential candidate twice and on a background of the
19th amendment where it has been restricted, who would be manipulating Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna?
It will be I myself. We hope to solve matters with regard to this amendment in court. Whatever it is, as there is a risk ... anybody could think of an alternate candidate.
* Would it be a a member of your own family or an outsider?
My son is still not of age to become a Presidential candidate. For that he should be 35 years of age. Therefore it will not be possible for him in 2019. My brother can contest. If it so happens, the party should decide what leader the masses want".
