Asian Games over from today -- China, Japan, Korea in first places -- no awards for Sri Lanka
All games at the 18th Asian Games festival which was scheduled from last 18th to the 2nd (today) are over by now and China, Japan and Korea have clinched first places bagging 289, 205 and 177 awards. Though Sri Lanka represented several events, they have had to return home without claiming even a single bronze medal and thus empty-handed.
Of the 45 countries that represented the competition, only 8 countries were totally defeated while 37 countries were able to win at least one or two or some awards. Sri Lanka has participated in 15 Asian
Games festivals from the year 1951 and have won awards on a number of occasions. Upto now from time to time Sri Lanka has managed to win 11 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 20 bronze medals; all totalling 41 medals. Though Sri Lanka has been able to attain victory in previous games, they were not able to win a single award on this occasion.
Having been defeated by Korea in the game played for the bronze award of the Rugby Sevens event in the Asian Games festival, the opportunity to claim the bronze award this time was lost. Shown below is the list of awards
