Nawalapitiya town ubder water amidst heavy showers

Because of a heavy downpour and as a result of floods, the main route running across Nawalapitiya town has created obstruction for travel.

The photograph captured on Sunday afternoon which is depicted here shows how the part of Nawalapitiya town from opposite the post office upto the police station has been submerged by the
waters. At certain spots the road has been covered upto 20 feet by water. Reports have been published to say that the drain system which permits rainwater to flow away from Nawalapitiya town has been blocked and has been the cause for this.
