Inquiry about filing case against old cheating incident ... during present time

The present wife of popular singer Victor Ratnayaka was involved in a fraud amounting to over Rs. 12 lakhs at the time she was employed at Tangalla People's Bank pawn-brokering section had recently presented her to police in the company of an attorney-at-law and was subsequently taken into custody after which she was produced before
Tangalla Magistrate Court. Thereafter she was remanded till 17th of this month. However, a hidden side of the story has been focused upon by the police by now in this connection.

Hashini Nilakshi Ratnayaka is suspected as being responsible for this fraud committed during the period 2014 to 2016. However, suspicion has now cropped up as to why this fraud which took place years ago has got so delayed to come before the law when the offence should have been tackled much earlier.

Investigations have revealed that she is responsible for a financial fraud of Rs. 12,80,000 at the time she was attached to the pawn-brokering unit of the said bank and the manager of this branch has initially notified the police in the year 2016 regarding this particular cheating incident. It is impossible to understand as to why Tangalla Police has not taken any action over this matter for over one-half years. This incident of being taken into custody however as been effected later when this investigation activities were launched by Tangalla Special Investigation Unit under supervision of police superintendent Mr. K.G.L. Geethal. A suspicion lurks whether the delay that resulted was caused by the complainant lady in possession of those gold articles being overseas or whether the issue was delayed having bribed the petitioner or police or instead some attempt has been made to settle the problem.

Victor's son Lelum spoke out across a YouTube video in the month of March 2017 speaking to the media for the first time saying that "Father gave money and with that saved her". In this instance superintendent of police, in charge of Tangalla division Mr. K.G.L. Geethal has said that he would be conducting an inquiry regarding whether police officers have delayed investigations on purpose in that instance. It is reported that prior to this too a statement has been secured from suspect Hashini who was in service at the bank at that time, relating to this incident.
