Today the 1st of January 2018 afternoon a fire has broken out at Meetotamulla garbage dump, Kolonnawa, it is reported.

A massive tragedy occured as a result of a landslide  of the Kolonnawa garbage pile last year during the Sinhala New

Year season. The Fire Rescue Services Department has announced that the fire under reference has taken place in an area adjoining that very same location and that 3 water bowsers and 2 fire-fighting vehicles were deployed to bring the fire under control.
