Tamil film star Vishal comes forward to contest seat left vacant by Jayalalitha

The bypoll for RK Nagar represented by Chief Minister Late Jayalalitha Jeyaram of Tamilnadu is to be held on December 21st. In this connection the application for nomination by Tamil film star Vishal Krishna was rejected and as a result there was a heated situation which erupted near the election office in Chennai on December 5th; however later his nomination papers were accepted, it is reported
across social websites.

In the meantime nominations forwarded by a daughter-in-law of Jayalalitha was rejected. The AIADMK party which was headed by Jayalalitha had brought forward Madusudanan as their candidate while TTV Dinakaran, a former leader of AIADMK too would be contesting independently. The DMK party which a main rival has nominated Murudu Ganesh as their candidate for the DMK party.

After the demise of Jayalalitha there was a conflict in the AIADMK party and Sasikala who was a friend of Jayalalitha happened to be victorious over Panneerselvam faction and finally claim power of the party. Palaniswami was appointed as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu by her. However, in August 2017 Panneerselvam and Palaniswami joined the party once again after expelling Sasikala and Dinakaran from the AIADMK party.

The R.K. Nagar bypoll was scheduled to be first held in the month of April 2017. On that occasion the Sasikala faction swayed their powers over AIADMK party and thus Dinakaran became the official candidate of the party. Madusudanan on that occasion became the candidate of the Panneerselvam faction. But accusations began to circulate that the Sasikala faction had offered bribes to the voters which then resulted in the bypoll being postponed.

Film star Vishal who is aged 40 years has starred in about 38 Tamil and Telegu films from 2004 upto now. He functions as the producer of a number of films and also happens to be the incumbent chairman of the Tamil association of film producers in India.
