Chief doctor of Welikada Hospital ... transferred!
Dr. Mrs. Nirmali Thenuwara who was the Chief Acting Doctor of Welikada Prison who came in for some hammering for having recommended those sentenced for a period of 3 years in relation to the sil cloth court case recently yesterday was informed by Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratna yesterday (18) to Director General of Health Services Dr. Jayasundera Bandara that she be affiliated to the
Colombo National Hospital.
A report consisting of 26 cases of professional misconduct relating to this lady doctor had been forwarded by a group of other doctors to the Minister and he had taken this decision because 19 doctors in service at that hospital had made a request saying that this decision will be taken by applying for sick leave. It is expected that a communication is to be directed to Inspector General of Police to make an inquiry through the Criminal Investigation Department about this misconduct. Chief Acting Doctor Mr. J.K. Mawattage has been appointed to fill her void.
