Story of Sureka's husband who lost money and wife too after sending her for an overseas job!
A husband who sent his wife to Kuwait having been preyed upon by a bogus agency has had to face consequences of losing his money as well as his wife. This sorrowful incident is reported from Morawaka area.
His wife Sureka Irangani had left the country as a domestic aide on 26th April 2017 and that was through an agency. After about two and a half months Sureka's family had received a message from
the Foreign Employment Bureau. It was that Sureka has died. This incident had been notified on the 9th. What was mentioned there was that Sureka had died having breathed poisonous fumes.
Sureka's husband Mr. Kirthi Nanda Edirisingha (46) had this to say with regard to the incident: "It was last 26th April that my wife went to Kuwait to work there. It was last 7th that she spoke to me last. After that no information was found. Last 8th a certain akka serving in Kuwait who first spoke to us told "Malliye ... Sureka's phone doesn't respond. Looks like some trouble to Sureka". It was after that that we spoke to the agency. After that, that same akka had sent a voice message saying that Sureka's room had caught fire and that those who were there are finished. So to go quickly to the agency and find out information. As such, when phoning the agency once again, a sub spoke and said that the agency is closed and that the agency is being shifted to another location and that it is only on Monday that the agency would be opened. It was in the meantime on 9th that the Foreign Employment Bureau gave us a call and told that my wife had died. I was told to contact them and tell that poisonous fumes was the reason for this death.
Sureka Irangani living in Modera House, Neluwa Road, Kalubowitiyana, Morawaka and her husband Kirthi Nanda have a son called Yasiru Nethsara (15) and a daughter called Yenuli Mithara (9) while the son is expected to sit for his G.C.E. O/L next year the daughter is to face the 5 Year scholarship examination.
After the deceased set off for work, the sum of Rs. 2 and a half lakhs which members of Sureka's family got has been acquired by a person who appeared as a broker of the agency in this country and by now he has vanished, it was reported. By now his mobile phone too has been deactivated. After the wife's dead body was brought back to this country, it was confirmed at the autopsy conducted in Sri Lanka that death was due to poisonous fumes. Having sent his wife overseas and losing her life has resulted in the husband being isolated with his two children.
