Last week on both 23rd and 24th two pathetic incidents of homicide were reported of 2 students who were at that time alone in the house. One murder so committed was of a schoolgirl aged 17 years hailing from Giribava area in Kurunegala. The criminal who is supposed to be divorced had been living with his mother and having abused the girl had later killed her with
fear of being apprehended.

The second killing took place exactly the day after in Rakwana, Ratnapura. This schoolgirl that day had been engaged in her Advanced Level studies alone and had been living under the care of her father as the mother was deceased when at that moment a certain man addicted to drugs had come for purposes of robbery and had finally murdered her. The deceased has had a lover and he had been trying to contact her over her mobile phone when he found the phone continuously disconnected on which occasion he had in suspicion informed her father and inquired about it and it was then that it was revealed that she had been murdered inside the home.
