70 signatures against Wijedasa ... out from Miniter post, instead of No Confidence Motion!

The matter relating to a controversy concerning Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa is to reach a border line tomorrow (17), political sources report. As such, disciplinary action is expected to be taken at the UNP Working Committee meeting to be held tomorrow for having taken a stance against the government while still Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa
is still in the government. This could be his expulsion from his Ministerialship, it is reported.

It has been the opinion of seniors of the UNP that that bringing a No Confidence Motion against someone in the government by the government itself is a humourous matter and that no such lengthy procdures are warranted and that the President and Prime Minister who appointed him as Minister could take a direct decision on this matter.

Protesting against leasing out the port, inciting the Attorney General's Department against UNP Ministers and throwing law suits of the United Opposition under the carpet are allegations aimed at the Minister. About 70 signatures have been secured already by the UNP petition against Wijedasa Rajapaksa and a decision regarding him would be announced tomorrow, it was understood.
