Swarnavahini announcer loses temper over question asked about conducting Live Chart Show
The answer given by the announcer to a question posed by a female during a live programme by the name of 'Top ten super hits' broadcast over Swarnavahini Channel this morning (27) has by now caused some dialogue within social circles.
The question posed was whether an entertainment-inclined live chart show such as this being presented at a time when hundreds of people have died with thousands of others being displaced is
justified or not. When room was not left for the question to be asked and finished with those handling operations blocking it, the new announcer Rahul responded saying that there are two sides to the question and that just because some disaster takes place other media networks too do not refrain from conducting their programmes and that Swarnavahini also conducts those programmes. He further continued by retorting that "if there happens to be an issue in the country would you wait without eating rice" which then was his antagonistic proverbial response. Later when finishing his reply he had finished saying "Don't make me lose my temper!" thus swallowing other comments which came to his mind.
Whatever it is, Kavindya Adhikari who functioned on that occasion as the female announcer having immediately grasped that the reply given by her counterpart was not that favourable then went on to bring forward other matters such as "we prayed in this connection ... we wished ... we help". But the call received by her was mentioned by her as 'a disturbing call'.
Viewers of social websites watching this incident over and over again had condemned the act of the announcer losing his temper. Rupavahini channels which report floods and sorrows of those deaths at nighttime news broadcasts on a competitive level within the scope of their programme orientation not bringing up that feeling subjected to attention, was criticised. Apart from this, to what extent the point of broadcasting frequencies belonging to the public on an annual licence fee on a lease method with the sole motive of earning money is justified as humiliating the audience in questioning about it was subjected to discussion.
