eZcash business of Samayan inside prison revealed at autopsy!

Autopsy of underground kingpin and the other four who were gunned down in Kalutara sometime ago when being escorted in prison bus was conducted last afternoon at Kalutara Courts by the magistrate with the participation of the wives and close kith and kin of the deceased.

On the occasion the wives remarked that all of them were contacting them from prison on their mobile phones frequently. When the Lady Magistrate questioned that it was
a queer matter as to how they managed to contact them, some of them had responded saying that the deceased had aid that they were speaking from the jailor's mobile phone. Whatever it is, it was learned that they had been speaking from various phones. It was revealed from testimonies of those present at the autopsy that the deceased prisoners have been using reloads (for the mobile phones) and cash across eZcash system for the prison officers.

The wives also stated that before their husbands came to Kalutara Prison, they had been detained at Welikada Prison and were constantly alert about the safety of their lives and were transferred to Kalutara Prison because of such security measures. The wives also admitted that information about the said mobile phone dealings within the prison, had been leakng out about their movements to and fro and that the group were thus linked to various unnecessary murders too. It was expressed that if not for such incidents, these murders would have been averted. They also pointed out that if the police took action to provide proper security, these deaths would not have taken place.

At the moment when underground chief Samayan died, he has had a gold ring and silver rings in his possession and it was mentioned in courts that his first wife K.P. Sugandi Caldera has made a complaint to Kalutara North Police demanding for those items. It was an issue as to how Samayan defied the law in such a case where a prisoner or detenue is prohibited from wearing any ornaments etcetera after being subjected to prison. Whatever it is, since it was revealed that it was true that he really did wear those rings, the magistrate ordered that those items be handed over to Samayan's first wife Sugandi.

As several reports of telecommunication offices were necessary for inquiries into some telephones for the purpose of carrying on further investigations into the case at hand, the telephone companies concerned were instructed yesterday to provide the relevant data. Magistrate Mrs. Bharathi Wijeyratna also ordered the prison buses which sustained damage from gunfire be handed over to the prison. Further hearing has been fixed until 24th March and evidence of prison officers are to be secured on that day.
