6 newspapers, 3 TV channels and 3 FM metres for Arjun's media channel
The media network connected to Perpetual Treasuries Company which is supposed to commence operations in 2017 would be a media network which would be exerting the widest influence on Sri Lanka's private networks, it is reported.
Operations are underway to absorb employees conversant with all languages for this massive media network, it is understood. Advertisements had been published in weekend newspapers and interviews
had been conducted right throughout the last few days. This media network is being launched by the son-in-law Arjun Aloysius of Arjun Mahendra the latter of whom was subjected to the Central Bank bond scam. Already a crowd of close upon 40 individuals including mediamen of Mawbima newspaper have resigned and have joined this new newspaper while another 20 persons are expected to join by January 1st. The first publication would be the Sinhala newspaper in this media network, the second will be the English newspaper while the Tamil newspaper would follow suit after that, it is reported.
By now it has been reported that large numbers of Rivira and Lakbima newspapers which are on the verge of collapse are being drawn towards the new publication and a further set of freshers have been recruited by being paid a thumping salary, it is reported. When acquiring Rupavahini channels it was noted that some frequencies have been bought from Swarnavahini and frequencies of Siyatha FM too have been bought over. As such this would be first time that Rupavahini, radio and 12 newspapers in all by using all 3 languages are utilised to cover the entire island in Sri Lanka.
