Jaliya arrested at BIA accused for crediting state money to his personal account

The former ambassador to America and Mexico Jaliya Wickremasuriya  has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport last night by the officers of the criminal investigations unit for alleged misappropriation of state money.He had been arrested when he was attempting to board a flight last night. 

It is reported that he is accused for misappropriating state funds amounting to rupees five billion
seventeen lakhs while purchasing a building .Jaliya Wickremasuriya is to be produced before courts today.During his tenure as the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Washington a new office for the Ambassador office was purchased at 3025, White Heaven Street 20008.
