How Mahinda Rajapaksa's 71st birthday was celebrated with United comrades

Former President Kurunegala District Member of Parliament Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa's birthday falls today (18th). In this connection cutting the cake this morning on behalf of the birthday was done with comrades of the United Opposition and his family members joining in together. Subsequently Mahinda Rajapaksa's website was updated and was relaunched today and in addition a painting of Mahinda's family was conferred with
a Mahinda song of greetings which were launched early in the morning.

Early this morning at 5.30 an almsgiving was held at Abhayarama in Narahenpita on behalf of wet nurses (kiri ama) while a number of religious programmes have been organised for today and tomorrow. This evening a pooja for the sick comprising of flowers and lamps is to be held at 7.30 this evening at Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara. It is organised by MPs of the United Opposition. Apart from this, several religious programmes are to be conducted in Anuradhapura tomorrow (19th).

Enlisting members for the former President's future Party the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna under the symbol of 'pohottuwa' was commenced just one day prior to his birthday and G.L. Pieris and Mahinda's younger brother Basil took leadership in it and enrolled as its initial members. Videos of some of the functions held today, from below
