Damage of Rs 40 billion caused by fire at the largest school auditorium of Musaeus College

It is estimated that a loss of Rs 40 billion has occurred to the auditorium of the Musaeus College after the fire broke out last Friday after school hours .

This auditorium is with modern faculties has a sitting capacity for 1600 and was constructed in the year 2011.It was opened during the past regime by the then President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Then it
was known as the largest scholar auditorium in the country.

In regard to the fire on the 06th instant the police officers at the Cinnamon gardens police station had gone to the scene along with the officers of the government analyst department to ascertain the cause of the fire.The investigations are still underway.

It is believed that owing to lightening a fire may have broken out in the electricity circuit.There had been 10 fire engines from the Colombo fire brigade department were deployed to dowse the fire.It is reported that equipment and chairs had been burnt.
 The auditorium was built with the donations from philanthropists as well wishers and funds collected by school funds.
