Acting Director General -- Sunethra

The President's Media Unit announced this evening that the resignation letter of Mrs. Dilrukshi, Director General of the Commission for Allegations of Bribery and Corruption was acknowledged by the President. What was reported this morning was a story that the President would make a decision after the arrival of the Prime Minister.

Minister Rajitha had revealed at the meeting of announcing cabinet decisions that there is an
accusation against Mrs. Dilrukshi in connection with a suspicion over her activities. Minister Rajitha who provided an illustration in that respect said that investigations launched in relation to allegations which stated that members of the family of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had bank accounts in Dubai assumed a shaky state where her procedure was concerned. The President yesterday mentioned that a suspicion had surfaced on one occasion that information pertaining to some secret documents that the President had signed had leaked out through her. The Minister also exposed that in order to commence investigations concerning the Dubai account of the Rajapaksas Mrs. Dilrukshi had approached President Mr. Maithripala Sirisena and that just one hour later the President had received a telephone call from Mahinda Rajapaksa. He further said that the letter prepared to be sent to Dubai to co-operate in those investigations for which the President put down his signature resulted in Mahinda Rajapaksa making an inquiry as to whether the President had signed it which brings out an issue about the transparency on those Dubai investigations. In the meantime Mrs. Sunethra Jayasingha who acts as the present Deputy Director General has been appointed as the Acting Director General of the Bribery Commission.
