External Degrees .... only from Open University
Professor Mohan de Silva, Chairman of the University Grants Commission mentioned at the media briefing held yesterday when speaking in relation to university cut off marks that there is a possibility that external degree classes held at various places in Sri Lanka might be abolished. He also revealed that to fill its gap, though equipped with marks warranting advanced level university entrance but deprived of entrance facilities would find solace as all powers to grant External Degrees has been bestowed on Open Universities for which arrangements are being made made these days. In addition he revealed that those students would be subjected to a certain limited number and that a number similar to internal students in university faculties would be selected for these courses. Decisive policies in this respect are expected to be launched in the recent future.
