"At parties ... almost everyone drinks no. Son is not to be blamed" -- Statement from Keheliya father
Parliament Member Keheliya Rambukwella the father of cricketer Ramith Rambukwella the latter of whom was taken into custody in Colombo for driving recklessly last morning after liquor has expressed his personal opinion by saying that he
sees nothing wrong in it.
What he mentioned was that his son Ramith Rambukwella's vehicle meeting with an accident in front of St. Bridget's Convent, Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo had not done any harm to anybody and because everybody takes drinks at parties he does not give the matter much thought to it. Expressing his ideas to a newspaper this is what Keheliya Rambukwella had to say about it: "Nobody suffered any harm from that accident. Nothing much of a damage was done to that wall. It is we who faced a loss. The other thing is ... if one attends a party, people drink ... some don't. I of course can't say that the accident is so much of a big accident".
Even previously too on the occasion when Ramith Rambukwella was drunk and went to the extent of trying to open a door of an airliner causing inconvenience to fellow passengers Keheliya father quipped smilingly in the presence of the media saying that mixing up doors is a setback which happens to most people.
