Government forms a National Media Centre

It is reported that the government has proposed to form a new National Media Centre. This is to prevent fake news that have been published by several media personnel taking into advantage the media freedom that was allowed after this

Yahapalana government came into affect.

It is reported that the general public had been misled by these hoax news spread by certain media personnel and media institutions to discredit the government and to obtain political advantage.

Accordingly the suggestion proposed by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has been approved by the cabinet.The new national media centre to be established would take responsibility of all news items published.In this context the publish would be able to know of truth only.This is in addition to the bill that was passed for the public to know the real truth of the news published.In the event fake news are made known to the public they would be subjected to clarification by this national media centre.
