Mother arrested for beating daughter with broomstick for not getting up in the morning
It is reported that a 11 year old female student in grade 6 of a reputed Balika Vidyalaya in Kalutara gets up late to go to school and that invariably she is late to school.
The mother of the girl for this grave offence had beaten her daughter with a broom stick and a pole mercilessly. The mother had also poured kerosene on her books and had burnt them. The mother had been arrested by the police and produced before the Chief Magistrate Kalutara.The Chief Magistrate Udesh Ranathunga had released her on bail with personal body security of rupees two hundred thousand .
The suspect is a 47 year old garment employee a resident of Gamagoda Rajawatta, Kalutara is a mother of two children. Her husband is a sergeant in the army.
It is reported and said that the mother an employee of a garment factory needs her 11 year daughter to get up early morning at 5 am and has to be dropped at her mother’s house to enable her to go to the garment factory her workplace.
The daughter who received injuries had been admitted to the Nagoda hospital and discharged on the 21st instant. The Chief Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga had ordered the 11 year old daughter to remain at her grandmother’s house as she does not like to stay with her mother.
