Frontliners and Weeravansha comrades did not even attend Somawansa's almsgiving
The Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has made an explanation concerning the political conflict that surfaced in relation to the final rites of former JVP leader Somawansa Amarasingha to a
weekend newspaper.
The frontliners and Weeravansha associates who took steps in making the kanatta a place out of bounds to the JVP saying that the JVP had ill-treated Somawansa in his latter stages he says that at the last moment the deceased was humiliated by wrapping the coffin with his dead body with a national flag. He says that such action was taken according to an idea of Gunadasa Amarasekera of the Wimal faction.
Tilvin Silva who points out that they had enough stages and that his party had no third-grade intention of living by marketing this funeral. He also added that though an exhibition of displaying to the country by struggling in funeral activities was portrayed, they did not attend the bana ceremony or the seven day almsgiving and that only the JVP participated in those events.
