Deputy Minister Eran to be new Governor of Central Bank, Rosy to fill the void seat in Parliament
The service period of the present Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Arjun Mahendran is to cease on the 30th of this month
.
It is spoken within political circles that the Deputy Minister of state enterprise development Eran Wickremaratne is to be made the new Governor of
the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Eran Wickremaratne is an old boy of prestigious Royal College and has obtained degrees in Bsc and Msc in Economics. Before entering politics has held the position of Chief Executive Officer at the National Development Bank (NDB) . He is a person quite competent in banking activities. In addition Eran Wickremaratne has had the privilege of been the inaugural chairman of the ICTA.
Once he is offered this appointment his seat in the Parliament is due to become vacant. This void will be filled by Rosy Senanayake who is the next in the list of having secured the nest highest number of preferential votes.
It is pertinent to mention that when Rosy Senanayake missed been appointed to a seat in Parliament she had filed a court case seeking permission to recount her preferential votes.
