Uganda President Museveni's Swearing-in Ceremony

The Swearing in ceremony of Uganda President which former President Mahinda Rajapaksa attended took place amidst much commotion. A massive protest was launched in the country saying that Yoveri Musaweni who continuously is in ruling power for a tenure of 30 years from 1986 onwards and was swearing in for the fifth time for another 5 years was accused of 'fraudulent votes'.The
public got onto the streets and had started protesting while Besigwe who contested against Musaweni had held a celebration elsewhere saying that he is the President and he too had sworn himself.

Musaweni who said that this act was against the law had later taken steps to arrest him. As news displaying being broadcast to the effect that social media, the television, the radio and a majority of newspapers were broadcasting that Musaweni could not be accepted as the President, all social media were blocked with orders to the police to arrest those who were engaged in videoing public protests, while television scenes also were suspended. Though 71 year old Musaweni exclaims that he was victorious at elections held last February by 60 percent, the public were not prepared to accept his word. Besigwe who contested against him had received only 30 percent. Already Musaweni's election corruption was reported to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is in suspense. What he had announced at yesterday's Swearing in ceremony was that 'ICC is a good-for-nothing crowd'.

Musaweni had made arrangements to make present-day leaders of several African States apart from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to attend the ceremony with the intention of giving the impression that African leaders are with him and thus to portray his strength. As such, leaders of Chad, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zimbabwe joined in at this ceremony. On the other hand, American, European and Canadian diplomats kept away from this occasion; but a visitor who attended this ceremony was Sudanese President Omar Al Basheer who was considered as someone notorious for corruption and a letter of protest was forwarded in that connection by diplomats.

Musaweni who had been ruling Uganda from 1986 on his whims and fancies and is someone who has been subjected to criticism as an inefficient administrator. Since he failed to provide development in infra-structure facilities suitable to the increasing population in that country, it is understood that he had contributed towards a life of sheer poverty to the masses and the economy has thus collapsed.
