Former Minister Piyasena Gamage had to face a big predicament at Samanala Grounds, Galle yesterday at the SLFP May Day rally at the commencement of his speech, it was reported. Even when President Mr. Maithripala Sirisena

was present on stage, the speaker with a slip of the tongue had mistakenly welcomed Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa saying, "Athigaru Janadhipathi Mahinda Rajapaksa Mehithumagen awasarai".

Having realised his mistake after a short while he once again welcomed President Maithripala Sirisena, it was said. What Wimal Weeravansha however said at the Joint Opposition rally at Kirullapona in the evening was that "Mahinda is welcomed there too as President".
