Owing to floods the way the schools in Colombo-Gampaha  would be closed on the 18th

Owing  to the prevailing inclement weather the authorities of the Western province ministry of education has decided to close some schools in the Colombo and Gampaha districts.

SG Wijebandu the western province secretary of the western province education ministry had added

that many schools would be closed as the schools would be utilized to house the displaced persons and also due to the inability for students to travel on flooded roads.

Accordingly all schools in the Gampaha region under the western province education ministry, all schools in the Kelaniya division, all schools in Hanwella area under the Homagama western province education ministry would be closed on the 18th instant.

It is also reported that all schools in the Moratuwa division of the Piliyandala zonal division and all schools in the Kaduwela and Kolonnawa areas under the Sri Jayawardenapura  education zonal division are to be closed. This was revealed by the educational secretary of the western province education ministry authorities
